Ultra Mono Typeface specimen from 6TM Magazine

A variable display typeface by Maxime Thill built on a single structural rule: uppercase and lowercase characters share identical height, eliminating traditional ascenders and descenders.

About

By forcing all characters to the same vertical measure, Ultra Mono produces dense, compressed text blocks where descenders fold back into the baseline and diacritics sit flush against their letters. The typeface ships as a variable font with adjustable height and slant axes, spanning from a rigid upright to more dynamic angled compositions, with a condensed variant that permits very tight leading. Suited to editorial design, posters and experimental visual identities where typographic density doubles as surface texture.

Classification

Classified as display due to its experimental constraint-driven design where uppercase and lowercase share identical height, producing a graphic, texture-like typographic surface rather than conventional text use.
