Originally designed in 2008 as the principal typeface for the V&A Museum's 'Cold War Modern' exhibition catalogue, drawing on mid-century poster and ephemera typography.

About

Commissioned for the V&A's 'Cold War Modern: Design 1945–1970' publication, the typeface takes its cues from the graphic language of that era: restrained geometric forms with a modernist, institutional character. It has since been expanded from its original weight to a family of six, running from Thin to Bold. Works well in catalogue and editorial contexts where a controlled, period-informed sans is needed.

Classification

CWM draws on Cold War era poster typography and printed ephemera, resulting in a geometric sans with the restrained, rational character typical of mid-century European modernism.
