Dane
A2-Type · 2002

A sans-serif rooted in Danish industrial sign lettering of the 1940s, with wide proportions and a double-storey 'g' across six weights.
About
Originally designed in 2002 and expanded through several rounds of development up to 2017, Dane draws on the utilitarian lettering found on Danish industrial signage from the mid-twentieth century. Wide, generous proportions give it a confident presence at display sizes, while the double-storey lowercase 'g' adds a humanist note that distinguishes it from more neutral grotesques. Six weights from Light to Extrabold make it workable for branding and identity projects where some typographic character is wanted without heavy stylisation.
Classification
A contemporary sans-serif drawn from Danish industrial sign lettering of the 1940s, with wide proportions and humanist detailing such as the double-storey 'g' placing it within the grotesque tradition.
