A sans serif family originating from just two letters found in a Morgan Press Type catalogue, extended into a seven-weight grotesque with wood type and early specimen influences.
About
The design began with a single page from the Morgan Press Type catalogue bearing only a capital G and a capital B, which A2-Type used as the seed for a full grotesque family. The resulting seven weights run from Light to Black, balancing the directness of letterpress wood alphabets with the cohesion expected of a contemporary type system. The family has received a Tokyo TDC Prize and an ISTD Certificate of Typographic Excellence.
Classification
A bold sans serif drawing on letterpress wood type and early sans serif specimens, placing it firmly in the grotesque tradition with historical vernacular roots.
