displaydot matrix / stitch
Merk Dot specimen from A2-Type

A dot-matrix display face drawn from a 19th-century Dollfus-Mieg & Cie linen-stitching instruction alphabet, extended by A2-Type into a full character set across three weights.

About

The source material, a 'Merk Stich' specimen featuring uppercase letters only, has been expanded by A2-Type to include lowercase, numerals and punctuation. Three weights, Light, Medium and Bold, give the family modest range for display use. A companion pixel sans, Merk PiX, is available as a single weight for those wanting a related but more screen-oriented option.

Classification

Derived from a linen-stitching instruction alphabet, the typeface uses a dot-based construction that places it firmly in the display category as a decorative, grid-structured face with craft origins.
