Microscopic

A duplexed grotesque revival of Gothic No. 3 from an 1908 Barnhart Brothers & Spindler specimen, built for legibility at small sizes on screen.
About
Based on Gothic No. 3 from an American type specimen of c. 1908, the design mixes square and soft forms with a mechanically constructed lowercase featuring distinctively pinched bowls on b, d, g, p and q. The family is duplexed, meaning all eight weights occupy identical widths, making it practical for UI work where text reflow must be avoided. An X Condensed subfamily extends the range for tighter settings.
Classification
Derived from Gothic No. 3, an early 20th-century American gothic typeface, placing it squarely in the grotesque tradition. The mixed square and soft shapes with mechanically constructed letterforms are characteristic of late 19th and early 20th century American gothics.
