Recognition
A2-Type · 2003

Originally drawn in 2003 for an Arnolfini Gallery catalogue, this sturdy grotesque has since expanded into a family of eight weights with slanted italics.
About
Commissioned for the 'Recognition' exhibition catalogue at the Arnolfini Gallery in Bristol, the typeface began as a single-weight workhorse and was later developed into a full family of sixteen styles. Eight weights run from Thin to Heavy, each paired with a slanted italic. The construction is solid and unpretentious, suited to institutional, editorial and wayfinding contexts.
Classification
A sturdy, upright sans with slanted italics rather than true italics, sitting in the grotesque tradition with even strokes and solid construction across a wide weight range.
