About
Beginning in 2016 as a single Black cut inspired by Excoffon's Antique Olive Nord and Gill's Kayo, Marsel expanded into a seven-weight family where the distribution of thin and thick strokes grows increasingly eccentric as weight increases. The result is a family with a split character: restrained and rational at the lighter end, boldly contrasted and expressive at the heavy end. It ships as a variable font with a thorough OpenType feature set including alternates for a, g, y and Q, four figure styles and extensive Latin language coverage.

Marsel is a sans-serif with variable contrast across weights, shifting from a near-monoline construction in lighter cuts to a high-contrast, personality-driven form in heavier weights, drawing on humanist influences from Excoffon's Antique Olive and Gill's experimental work.
