Resolution
Barnbrook · Barnbrook

A three-variant display family redrawn from hand-painted political murals across Northern Ireland, spanning loyalist and republican lettering traditions.
About
Barnbrook drew the six weights of Resolution directly from murals found in Belfast and Derry, tracing a visual history that runs from loyalist street painting through to the famous 'You are now entering Free Derry' wall. The blackletter combines lettering from both loyalist and republican sources; the sans derives primarily from loyalist murals; the slab is lifted from that single celebrated Free Derry corner, a site associated with the Battle of the Bogside and Bloody Sunday. The result is a typeface family with a specific political and geographic origin that no generic revival could replicate.
Classification
The family spans three stylistic variants — blackletter, slab and sans — all drawn from hand-painted mural lettering, making 'display' the most accurate umbrella category given the family's expressive, politically charged character.
