Based on delicate French slab serif forms from the 19th century, Tourette comes in two versions: Normal, which is restrained and legible, and Extreme, which layers on flourishes for a more decorative character. The name references Tourette's syndrome and the Barnbrook preoccupation with language and obscenity, providing a pointed contrast to the letterforms' lightness. The Extreme cut in particular suits display and titling work where a period decorative sensibility is wanted.
