Virus DejaVu
Barnbrook · Jim Lyles · 2012

A manually respaced and partially redrawn adaptation of the open-source DejaVu fonts, developed by Barnbrook for the Mystetskyi Arsenal cultural centre and the Arsenale 2012 biennale in Kyiv.
About
Built atop the open-source DejaVu project, itself a development of Bitstream Vera originally designed by Jim Lyles in 2002, this family covers 13 weights across sans-serif, serif and monospace styles. Barnbrook manually respaced the originals and redrew select characters to suit the visual identity requirements of two major Ukrainian cultural commissions. Released under the same open-source licence as its predecessors, permitting derivative works and free redistribution.
Classification
Derived from Bitstream Vera and DejaVu, the family spans sans-serif, serif and monospace variants; the primary category is sans-serif following the DejaVu lineage, with humanist proportions inherited from Vera.
