Micronova
Binnenland · Michael Mischler and Nik Thoenen · 2025

A Swiss geometric sans by Michael Mischler and Nik Thoenen, reworking the Eurostile and Microgramma lineage through a three-axis variable font with weight, width and x-height controls.
About
Rooted in Aldo Novarese's super-elliptical forms from Eurostile (1962) and Microgramma (1952), Micronova builds a precise mathematical system offering eight weights from 100 to 800, each with italic, and three defined widths accessible via OpenType features or variable font sliders. The x-height axis adds a further layer of control, making it a disciplined tool for fine-tuned typesetting at any size in print or screen contexts. It also serves as Binnenland's own corporate typeface, released in 2025.
Classification
Micronova is a geometric sans built on a mathematical, super-elliptical system derived from Eurostile and Microgramma lineage, with clean linear strokes and precisely tuned proportions consistent with the International Style tradition.
