Where Morris Fuller Benton's Franklin Gothic confined its notable stroke contrast to the heavier weights, Gal Gothic Condensed redistributes that quality across the full range, from Light to Extrabold, creating a more unified family. Neo-grotesque touches, including horizontal stroke terminals, smooth junctions between verticals and curves, and round punctuation dots, shift the tone away from the original reference. Each of the twelve static styles carries around 900 glyphs with broad Latin language support, small caps, tabular and old-style figures, and variable font options covering weight and width axes.
Classification
Inspired by Franklin Gothic, a classic American grotesque, but refined with neo-grotesque elements including horizontal stroke endings, smooth stem connections and round dots, placing it between the two traditions.
