Gandur New specimen from Blackletra

A display textura in three weights by Daniel Sabino, built on a hexagonal grid and refined toward a more humanistic, romanised structure than its companion family Gandur Alte.

About

Gandur New is one half of the Gandur family, distinguished from Gandur Alte by its more contemporary, humanistic character construction and a fuller set of OpenType features including small capitals. The design began on a strict hexagonal grid, taking cues from Max Bittrof's Element (1933), but progressively shifted toward pen-based forms, particularly in the heavier weights. The result sits between historical rigour and legibility for modern display use, covering an extensive range of Latin-based languages.

Classification

Described explicitly as a display textura, Gandur New draws on simplified geometric textura traditions while incorporating humanistic and romanised structural influences, placing it firmly within the blackletter category.
