Amsterdam Serif specimen from Blaze Type

A revival of a wood typeface found in a Brussels printing workshop, reinterpreted with calligraphic detail across nine weights and matching italics.

About

Based on wooden letters discovered in the type case of Unitype, a Brussels printing workshop, the design preserves the original's distinctive terminations while stabilising inherited shapes for use at both text and display sizes. Nine weights from Thin to Black, each with a matching italic, are supplied as variable fonts alongside static cuts. The family is intended for editorial systems, signage and branding where a historical flavour is needed without period eccentricity.

Classification

A revival of an early 20th-century wood typeface with calligraphic terminations, stabilised for contemporary use across text and display settings.
