Barabbas specimen from Blaze Type

A single-style display face drawn from the hand-lettered title cards of Richard Fleischer's 1961 Italian-American epic film, updated for contemporary use.

About

Designed by Matthieu Salvaggio, this face takes its letterform logic directly from the hand-drawn titles of the 1961 Columbia Pictures epic, translating their calligraphic weight distribution and curve construction into a contemporary display typeface. Available in one style, it suits movie posters, book covers and large-scale headlines where a mid-century cinematic register is wanted. Language support covers Latin European languages, exported in TTF, WOFF and WOFF2.

Classification

A single-weight display face with hand-lettered character referencing mid-century film title design; its expressive, calligraphic stroke quality places it firmly in the display category rather than conventional text serif.
