Dudler
Blaze Type · Franziska Weitgruber · 2022

A single-weight display sans with a fixed 8° italic angle and alternating narrow and wide letterforms that create an expressive typographic rhythm.
About
Designed by Franziska Weitgruber and released in 2022, Dudler grew from a chance observation of a Swiss truck's lettering in Val Venosta valley. The typeface pairs narrow italic-style characters with wide round ones, and includes stylistic narrow alternates for every wide glyph, letting the user modulate rhythmic contrast at the word level. The 8° slant injects a consistent dynamism suited to posters, web headers and motion work.
Classification
A single-weight upright italic with an 8° angle and contrasting narrow-wide letter pairs; conceived for headlines and display work, making it closer to display sans than a conventional grotesque or humanist sans.
