Khalos
Blaze Type · Matthieu Salvaggio, Léon Hugues · 2025

A high-contrast display serif with long spiky serifs, originally conceived from a 2002 Ultima Online roleplaying shard and later expanded into a full variable family.
About
Twelve styles run from Regular to Black with true italics throughout, available as a variable font. The design bridges historical calligraphic ductus with a contemporary approach to width rhythm, producing letterforms suited to posters, book covers, website headers and video game interfaces. Its barbed, high-contrast character makes it a poor choice for body text but a distinctive one at large sizes.
Classification
Long spiky serifs with high contrast round shapes place Khalos firmly in the display serif category; it is explicitly designed for headlines and large sizes, not continuous text.
