Silvana Display
Blaze Type · Siri Lee Lindskrog · 2022

A high-contrast transitional display serif by Siri Lee Lindskrog, distinguished by ink-spur details derived from a printing artefact found in a 19th-century Schelter & Giesecke specimen.
About
Drawing on 19th-century transitional models, Silvana Display pairs pronounced stroke contrast and pointed serifs with a distinct design conceit: a subtle ink accumulation spotted in a Pennsylvania type specimen has been formalised into a recurring spur across letters including G, S, a and n. An alternate character set extends this ink-like detail to horizontal serifs and diagonal crossings, while the italics introduce deep junctions and steep calligraphic turns. A companion family, Silvana Text, offers reduced contrast and wider proportions for sustained reading across any size.
Classification
Silvana Display is explicitly positioned between Old Style and Modern, drawing on transitional typefaces from the 19th century with high stroke contrast and delicate pointed serifs. Blaze Type's own description cites the combination of Old Style pen influence with the sharper contrast of Modern-style refinement.
