About
Originating in 2001 as a Photoshop experiment layering identical bitmap letters with varying transparency, Alterego was fully developed and released in 2018 with five weights and three Big display variants. The stroke pattern progresses from an open waffle grid in Thin to a dense closed square mesh in Bold, and because all styles share identical glyph widths, they are designed to be stacked, coloured independently or animated. Despite its experimental nature, the family carries a full Latin Extended character set with Vietnamese, Greek, Extended Cyrillic and Hebrew support.
