Brando Sans specimen from Bold Monday

A humanist sans companion to the Brando serif family, available in eight weights with true italics and broad language coverage across Latin and Cyrillic scripts.

About

Designed by Mike Abbink and Aleksandra Samuļenkova between 2012 and 2020, Brando Sans pairs with the Brando serif while standing independently as a workhorse for editorial, branding and signage work. Its eight weights run from Hairline to Black, each with a true italic, and the character set extends to over 140 languages with small caps, multiple figure styles and fractions. Distinctive details such as the curved lowercase l and more symmetrical M and W give it a quiet individuality without undermining its utility.

Classification

Described explicitly as a contemporary humanist sans by the foundry, with true italics, open apertures and idiosyncratic details like a curved lowercase l that place it firmly in the humanist tradition rather than geometric or grotesque camps.
