Puffin specimen from Bold Monday

A humanist sans family by Pieter van Rosmalen that spans a workhorse text cut and two expressive display variants, grown from a single bold display weight released in 2008.

About

The base Puffin is a practical humanist sans with generous spacing, a 15-degree oblique italic and disambiguated forms for capital I, lowercase l and the numeral 1, making it well-suited to UI and on-screen reading. Puffin Display and Puffin Display Soft increase the x-height, tighten spacing and introduce more expressive curved letterforms and rounded terminals for medium to large sizes. Across three subfamilies, the family runs to 42 styles, with extensive Latin language coverage stretching to over 100 languages.

Classification

Described explicitly as a humanist sans with generous spacing and oblique italics suited to screen and UI use; the Display variants add curved, expressive letterforms but the base family sits firmly in the humanist sans tradition.
