BS Staahl
Bolid System · Enen Studio & Arthur Schwarz · 2025

A semi-modular display typeface born from a school signage commission in western Switzerland, built around shared outer corner radii and sharp inner junctions.
About
Designed in collaboration with Enen Studio, BS Staahl follows a semi-modular construction logic drawn from the architecture of the school it was originally commissioned for. An optical size axis runs from Elementary through Middle to High, with contrast growing more pronounced at larger sizes, while stems remain assertive throughout and diagonals stay comparatively restrained. The family ships as a variable font and includes Regular, Italic and Backslanted cuts, performing at its best set large where its unicase quality and tight spacing create visual tension.
Classification
A modular, semi-geometric display typeface designed for signage and large-scale architectural use, with a constructed, brutalist character and optical size axis placing it firmly in the display category.
