A calligraphic serif family by Julien Priez and Yoann Minet spanning text, poster and decorative 'Wild' subfamilies, each with a distinct formal approach.

About

Developed from Julien Priez's research into calligraphic models informed by Oscar Ogg and Berthold Wolpe, the family distils structural qualities of written letterforms into sharp digital shapes free of tool-and-paper imperfections. Three subfamilies serve distinct purposes: the text subfamily carries OpenType features and extended character support for small sizes; the Poster subfamily is optimised for tight display spacing with organic letter-to-letter transitions; and the Wild cuts approach initialled lettering at the border of type and graphic art. Ten styles cover Light through Bold with matching italics across the main family.

Classification

Rooted in calligraphic traditions referencing Oscar Ogg and Berthold Wolpe, Boogy Brut synthesises written letterform structures into sharp, digitally refined serif shapes without reproducing handmade imperfections, placing it firmly in the calligraphic serif category.
