CA Saygon Text
Cape Arcona · Stefan Claudius

A text-optimised grotesque with seven weights and five stylistic alternate sets that let users switch between single- and double-storey letterforms inspired by Helvetica, Futura and Franklin Gothic.
About
Developed as a less eccentric companion to CA Saygon, this family retains the parent's proportions while adopting a higher x-height, reduced ascenders, a low cap height and right-angled terminals on f and t. Five named stylistic sets — Helvetica, Futura, Franklin, Cape and Flat — offer distinct combinations of a, g and y forms, making the typeface unusually adaptable for a single grotesque family. Latin Extended and Cyrillic coverage reaches as far as Vietnamese, and spacing was finished by Igino Marini using iKern.
Classification
Inspired by early static grotesques such as Akzidenz Grotesk, CA Saygon Text is a text-oriented grotesque sans with a high x-height, right-angled terminals, and multiple stylistic alternates referencing Helvetica, Futura, Franklin Gothic and bespoke forms.
