A two-layer display typeface by Thomas Schostok, drawing on bold, gritty 1950s and 1960s comic book advertising lettering for horror poster and retro graphic work.

About

Built around a shadow-and-fill system, the family comprises two styles intended to be stacked: Regular provides the drop shadow layer and Fill provides the colour fill, allowing colour, offset and tracking to be played with independently. The design pulls from the rough, hand-lettered advertising styles found in mid-century American comic books, giving it an appropriately sinister texture suited to horror film posters and vintage editorial work. Spacing and kerning are optimised for use with both styles together, though the Fill layer can be used in isolation for more unpredictable results.

Classification

Classified by the foundry as Display Distressed; drawn from bold, gritty comic book advertising lettering of the 1950s and 1960s, designed as a layered shadow-and-fill system for horror and vintage poster work.
