CA Spotnik Serif specimen from Cape Arcona

A contemporary serif by Stefan Claudius that draws on Scotch Roman traditions while deliberately avoiding conventional vertical serifs for a cleaner, narrower form.

About

Ten styles span Thin to Extrabold with matching italics, plus a variable font, making it adaptable for both body text and larger display use. The narrower proportions give it an economy well suited to extended reading, and the elegant italic retains the classic Scotch Serif flavour the designer cites as an influence. Extensive OpenType support includes stylistic alternates, fractions, old-style figures, superiors and inferiors, and multiple numeral sets.

Classification

The foundry classifies it as serif; influences from Scotch Roman and Scotch Serif traditions are evident, particularly in the italic, though the absence of traditional vertical serifs gives it a distinctly contemporary character.
