Change specimen from Capitalics

A multiscript serif developed across a PhD project, drawing on Renaissance proportions and Granjon-inspired calligraphic italics to support complex humanistic and historical texts.

About

Developed by Mateusz Machalski over six years as part of his doctoral research, Change treats Latin, Cyrillic and Greek with equal typographic rigour, offering around 4,000 glyphs per style. The italics draw directly from the calligraphic tradition of Robert Granjon, giving them an expressive quality that contrasts with the more restrained upright cuts. OpenType features including swashes, final forms and decorative ligatures are available across all three scripts, making it well suited to multilingual academic publishing and historical transcription.

Classification

Based on Renaissance proportions with expressive calligraphic italics inspired by Robert Granjon, placing it firmly in the humanist/renaissance serif tradition with historical grounding.
