Designed by Jason Carne, Ironbound Condensed draws from the doo-wop motel strip of Wildwood, New Jersey and the disappearing delicatessens and diners of New York City. Each of the nine weights ships with around 700 glyphs, including small capitals, fractions, superiors, inferiors and coverage for over 75 Latin-based languages. The result is a display typeface with clear period references that works well for signage, packaging and branding with a nostalgic American character.
Classification
A condensed sans-serif with strong retro-display character, drawing from mid-century neon signage and cast metal storefront lettering, placing it firmly in display rather than text use.
