A digital revival of a 1938 Italian wood type by Xilografia di Verona, reconstructed by Valentina Casali and Marco Goran Romano with refined spacing and redrawn problem letters.
About
Originally released as a wood type around 1938, the face blends geometric and vernacular forms, using straight diagonal upper strokes on letters such as M, N, m and n in place of the more typical curved entry strokes. Casali and Romano addressed the rough inconsistencies of the source material — uneven contrast, awkward diagonal cuts, uniform joining strokes — redesigning several letters entirely for the digital environment. OpenType features include initial and final forms and an all-caps stylistic set for uppercase-only settings.
Classification
A bold, low-contrast, fully cursive script with all letters joined, revived from a 1938 Italian wood type; its combination of round strokes, straight diagonals and sharp corners places it firmly in the connected script category.
