AM Liguria specimen from CAST

A digital revival of a 1938 Italian wood type, cut by the Xilografia Verona and faithfully redrawn by Beatrice D'Agostino with refined counters and consistent terminals.

About

Originally available in five sizes as a wood type, Liguria is a slanted monolinear sans with classical capital proportions, narrow B, E and S alongside a wide O. Its defining feature is the flat base and top of diagonal letters such as A, V and W, a practical device that reduces the need for kerning. D'Agostino's revival adjusts proportions and contrast to preserve the original's rough, spontaneous quality while reworking the punctuation entirely.

Classification

A digital revival of a 1938 Italian wood type, the face is monolinear, slanted throughout and evocative of German geometric sans-serifs of the 1920s. Its exclusively italic posture and wood-type origins place it firmly in the display category despite its sans-serif structure.
