AM Marche specimen from CAST

A single-weight digital revival of an Italian Art Deco wood type from the late 1930s, retaining the original's modular geometry, varying uppercase widths and the characteristic slanted 's' while refining its rough edges.

About

Drawn by Fabrizio Falcone from surviving type cases and the Xilografia di Verona catalogue, AM Marche preserves the geometric rigour and eccentric proportions of the source material: wide circular O, C, G and Q set against narrow companions, horizontal strokes extending beyond stems, and the 'escalator S' noted by historian Paul Shaw. Minor optical corrections have been applied throughout, including overshooting, subtle stroke modulation and more sinuous curves on B, D, P and R. The result sits in the CAST Modernisti collection alongside AM Tripoli, AM Novecento and AM Augusta, all concerned with Italian twentieth-century letterpress heritage.

Classification

A digital revival of an Italian Art Deco wood type with modular geometric construction, idiosyncratic uppercase width contrasts and decorative horizontal stroke extensions; best suited to display use rather than continuous text.
