AM Radio
CAST · Maria Jarzyna · 2025

A digital revival of a 1930s Neapolitan metal typeface, distinguished by its inline vertical stems and diagonally cropped horizontal terminals.
About
Originally cast by Fonderia Tipografica Meridionale Armando De Luca in Naples around 1935, Radio is an all-caps monolinear sans with a modular construction. Its most striking feature is an inline that bisects vertical stems, with a solid stylistic set provided for small sizes where the inline becomes illegible. Designer Maria Jarzyna corrected inconsistencies in the original round forms, unified spacing, and redrew problematic characters including the ampersand and brackets while preserving the type's original rhythm and texture.
Classification
An all-caps, monolinear, modular sans with distinctive inline vertical stems and diagonally cropped terminals, reviving a 1930s Italian metal type. Its decorative inline feature and display-only character place it firmly in the display category.
