A digital revival of a 1933 Nebiolo wood-type design, reconstructing the all-caps, monolinear geometry of the original with careful optical refinements by Michele Patanè.
About
Originally produced as a wood type by the Turinese Nebiolo foundry and first catalogued in 1933, Udine is an all-caps sans whose entire alphabet is constructed from the modular forms of H and O. Patanè's revival tightens horizontal stroke weights and smooths curve transitions to compensate for on-screen optical distortion while preserving the rigid, analogue stiffness of the source material. OpenType features reinstate the original negative-shape characters and decorative title pieces, making the revival functionally complete.
Classification
An all-caps, monolinear, modular sans with narrow proportions and geometric construction rooted in Art Deco wood-type tradition; its single weight and display-only character place it firmly in the display category.
