CAST · Muk Monsalve · 2025

A digital revival of a 1940 Neapolitan metal typeface, restoring its Art Déco geometry with contemporary refinements for poster and signage use.
About
Originally cast by Fonderia Tipografica Meridionale Armando de Luca of Naples around 1940, the design carries hallmark Art Déco traits: a detached crossbar on A, inverted bowls on B, an almond-shaped O and wide central bars on E and F. Muk Monsalve redistributed contrast on several letters, redrew numerals and introduced monolinear contextual alternates for C, G and S to resolve inconsistencies inherent in the original. An inline version of the full character set is included as a stylistic set via OpenType.
Classification
An all-caps condensed geometric sans with pronounced thick/thin contrast and distinctive Art Déco letterforms; the condensed proportions, almond-shaped O and inverted B bowls place it firmly in display territory rather than functional sans-serif.
