Baxos specimen from CAST

A square geometric sans by Jennifer Lavia with signature indented stems, released as a variable font ranging from Light to Bold.

About

Designed by Jennifer Lavia from a Suprematist process workshop in Bari, the typeface builds its character around precisely placed indentations on vertical stems, each glyph carrying an alternate where the indent shifts position and shape. OpenType Contextual Alternates allow the two sets to interchange within a word or line, producing a restless, rhythmic texture that reads well at text sizes without surrendering its distinctiveness at display scale. The variable weight axis and broad Latin language support make it genuinely versatile despite the eccentricity of its core premise.

Classification

A square sans-serif with near-flat vertical curves and large x-height, rooted in geometric principles drawn from Suprematist form exploration. The absence of contrast and squarish construction place it firmly in the geometric grotesque tradition, though the indented stems introduce a highly individual character.
