Chikoria
CAST · Riccardo Riggio · 2021

A single-weight calligraphic display script with inverted thick/thin contrast and hooked entry strokes, designed by Riccardo Riggio for CAST Studies in 2021.
About
Chikoria inverts the conventional flat-nib stress, placing thick strokes at the top and bottom of letterforms rather than left and right, producing a jaunty, energetic rhythm suited to titling. Lowercase letters are unjoined save for ligatures, and deep inktraps balance dark areas throughout. The cursive uppercase carries traditional proportions, while discretionary ligatures including ct, ft, st and tt extend its calligraphic range.
Classification
A display script with inverted thick/thin contrast drawn from flat-nib and pointed-brush calligraphic traditions, explicitly designed for titling and display use rather than continuous text.
