An organic display sans by Luciano Perondi, originally created for the brand identity of the Partito Democratico Italiano, with squarish irregular letterforms and 28 distinct ampersands.

About

Designed in collaboration with FF3300 studio for an Italian political party, the face turns deliberate inconsistency into a coherent visual voice: horizontal terminations, angular junctures and alternating curved and straight strokes give it a lively rhythm that holds up in text settings as well as display. The family spans seven weights from Light to Black with matching italics, a variable font version, and 1264 glyphs including an expressive punctuation system with named marks such as Irony, Doubt and Love drawn as a nod to Hervé Bazin. OpenType features include multiple stylistic sets, oldstyle and tabular figures, and contextual alternates for directional arrows.

Classification

Described by the foundry as a sanserif display face with squarish, irregular and discontinuous letterforms; its deliberate lack of uniformity and organic construction place it firmly in the display category rather than a conventional grotesque or geometric sans.
