About
Designed by Valentina Casali at CAST and developed between 2023 and 2025, the face takes its name and horizontal contrast from Novarese's Estro (Nebiolo, 1961) while adopting the fluid rhythm of a script. Narrow proportions and a generous x-height suit headlines, packaging and festival branding; positional OpenType features trigger automatic glyph substitutions within words, and swash capitals enable distinctive drop caps. The glyph set extends to arrows, astronomical and astrological symbols, and gender and sexual orientation marks.
Classification
An upright, non-connecting script with horizontal stroke contrast, designed as a display face with fluid, sinuous letterforms. The foundry explicitly describes it as a script face, distinct from its serif or sans-serif relatives.
