Gramma specimen from CAST

A compact humanist sans by Riccardo Olocco with a large x-height and distinctive bird-beak terminals, designed for both headline and text use across print and screen.

About

Developed from 2009 through 2022, Gramma pairs a high x-height and tight proportions with squarish arches whose counters push outward, creating tension in the compressed letterforms. Its most individual feature is the bird-beak terminal, used consistently across c, e, f and s, which echoes the unconnected junctures found in a, b, d and g. Five weights from Light to Bold each have matching italics, and the family is available as a variable font with broad Latin language support.

Classification

A compact, large x-height sans with squarish arches and distinctive bird-beak terminals that recall calligraphic construction, placing it in the humanist sans tradition despite its tight, compressed proportions.
