Kornel specimen from CAST

A Renaissance-inspired text serif by Radek Łukasiewicz, built across seven weights with matching italics for demanding long-form composition.

About

Drawn with classic Renaissance proportions as its reference point rather than any single typeface, Kornel uses sharp entry and exit strokes and distinctive diagonal treatments to give letters such as R, K, k, v, x and y a simplified, contemporary character. The seven-weight range runs from Book to Black, each with a corresponding italic whose oblique strokes keep the companion light and readable. Variable font files are included alongside static instances, covering an extensive range of Latin-script languages.

Classification

Inspired by Renaissance typography with classic proportions, sharp terminals and diagonal stroke treatment; the gently slanted italics and simplified letterforms place it firmly in the humanist old-style tradition.
