Macho Modular
CAST · Luciano Perondi · 2010

A sans with a mathematically defined modular width system, originally designed for the MAN museum in Nuoro as part of its corporate identity.
About
Designed by Luciano Perondi in 2010 for the Museo d'Arte Provincia di Nuoro, the typeface uses a limited set of letter widths related to one another by fixed mathematical ratios. Every letter retains the same width regardless of weight, enabling vertical alignment across weights without glyph distortion, much as a monospaced font would. The system was inspired by the Olivetti Margherita and Linotype machine traditions, and the family spans five weights with matching italics plus variable font versions.
Classification
A sans-serif with a geometric, systematic character derived from its mathematically related modular width system, where each letter maintains the same width across all weights, drawing inspiration from Olivetti Margherita and Linotype machine systems.
