Xanti Typewriter
CAST · Gianluca Sandrone · 2020

A nine-weight monospaced family drawn from Xanti Schawinsky's 1930s Olivetti logo, with serifs that dissolve as weight increases.
About
Designed by Gianluca Sandrone and produced between 2020 and 2021, the family takes its formal starting point from the geometric logo Schawinsky created for Olivetti in the mid-1930s. Eight weights from Hairline to ExtraBold each come with a matching italic, and the progressive loss of serifs through the weight range is a deliberate structural decision rather than an afterthought. OpenType features include lining and old style figures, slashed zero, alternate letterforms and a variable font version, making it suitable for coding environments, editorial work and packaging alike.
Classification
A fixed-width typeface with geometric Bauhaus construction; serifs disappear progressively as weight increases, placing it firmly in the monospaced geometric tradition.
