sans-serifneo-grotesque
FK Grotesk Neue specimen from Catalogue (Florian Karsten)

A neo-grotesque sans drawing on Helvetica and Univers but pushing towards wider proportions and more mechanical outlines.

About

Florian Karsten's FK Grotesk Neue takes the familiar cues of the neo-grotesque genre, the double-storey 'a', the splayed 'R', and runs them through a more rigid, lower-contrast lens. Wider proportions borrowed from FK Grotesk and a leaning toward geometric construction distinguish it from the Swiss originals it references. OpenType features include stylistic alternates, a thin punctuation set and a wide range of numeral variants, with coverage across Western, Central and Southeastern European Latin scripts plus Vietnamese.

Classification

Directly inspired by Helvetica and Univers, the canonical neo-grotesque references, but takes a more geometric and mechanistic approach with lower contrast and wider proportions than its predecessors.
