sans-serifpixel/raster sans
FK Raster Grotesk specimen from Catalogue (Florian Karsten)

A pixel-grid sans with a variable axis that transitions between sharply pixelated and fully rounded forms, optimised for 12-pixel rendering.

About

Built on a pixel grid and sharpest at 12px, the typeface uses a variable font axis to move smoothly between hard-edged raster forms and completely rounded shapes, producing strong visual contrast between the two poles. The Compact variant steps away from the strict pixel grid for use as a tightly spaced display face with careful kerning to close superfluous gaps. Latin Extended-A coverage spans Western, Central and Southeastern European languages.

Classification

A pixel-based sans-serif designed on a 12-pixel grid, with a variable axis that transitions between sharp pixelated forms and fully rounded shapes. The Compact variant shifts toward display use, making this a hybrid between pixel type and conventional grotesque.
