Originally conceived in 1993 as the first wide-ranging dingbats family since Zapf Dingbats, the 2009 revision by Erler and Henning Skibbe overhauled the set to reflect a changed technological landscape, dropping obsolete symbols and adding new ones. The result spans twelve thematic sub-families covering human figures, technics, office objects, arrows, geometric forms, stars, and more, totalling upwards of 1,000 glyphs. It remains a practical and historically grounded resource for designers needing a systematic pictographic system.
