ORA funky
Character Type · Henning Skibbe

A bespoke headline and text family for the ORA electric car brand, blending sans, serif and italic styles within a single font via a smart OpenType algorithm.
About
Designed by Henning Skibbe for the ORA electric car brand redesign led by Jung von Matt/Brand Identity, the family spans two optical sizes: a text cut in Regular and Bold, and a headline cut that houses three styles (Sans, Serif and Italic) inside one font file. An OpenType algorithm automatically varies styles during typesetting, removing manual style-switching from the designer's workflow. The uppercase sans draws loosely from the wide Antique Maigre 182 of Fonderie Haas (1864), while the serif style adopts evenly distributed widths in the tradition of Rosart and Baskerville.
Classification
The family combines sans, serif and italic styles within a single headline font, driven by OpenType rules, making straightforward category assignment difficult; classified as display due to its primary function as a headline typeface with lifestyle branding intent.
