PALFINGER specimen from Character Type

A bespoke corporate typeface family designed for the global crane manufacturer PALFINGER, with distinct headline and text cuts optimised across Latin, Cyrillic and Greek scripts.

About

Created by Henning Skibbe and Oleksandr Parkhomovskyy at Character Type as part of a brand identity project led by Strichpunkt Design, the family splits into a Headline version that plays up the font's structural quirks and a Text version redrawn for legibility at smaller sizes. A defining detail is the tension between tight inner curves and wide outer curves on angled letters like f, j and r, giving the design a mechanical edge that suits PALFINGER's industrial positioning. Script coverage spans Latin Extended with Vietnamese, Cyrillic and Greek for global deployment.

Classification

The letterforms feature tight inner curves and wide outer curves with 90-degree angled terminals on letters such as f, j, r and t, pointing to a geometric sans construction with distinctive engineered character.
