Dunbar specimen from CJ Type

A geometric sans rooted in the Erbar-Grotesk tradition, built around a variable x-height axis that spans dramatically low to maximally tall proportions across three optical subfamilies.

About

Dunbar extends the geometric logic of Erbar-Grotesk into a contemporary system of three subfamilies: Dunbar Low, with its extreme low x-height for editorial and signage work; Dunbar Tall, built for density and impact in tight settings; and Dunbar Text, calibrated for smaller sizes. A variable font axis allows typographers to move fluidly between x-height extremes, while stylistic alternates, optically adjusted capitals and freshly added Cyrillic support extend the family's range without breaking its underlying geometry.

Classification

Dunbar is explicitly grounded in the geometric tradition of Erbar-Grotesk, with calligraphic moderation of strict mechanical construction, placing it firmly in the geometric sans category.
