Coconat specimen from Collletttivo

A three-weight Latin family by Sara Lavazza that shifts from a flared text style in Regular to a fat, oblique-stressed display face in Bold.

About

Designed by Sara Lavazza and released in 2019 under the SIL Open Font License, Coconat spans three styles whose letterforms stay consistent while the stress angle becomes increasingly extreme. The Regular and Demi are fair-proportioned with flared terminals, making them serviceable at text sizes, whereas the Bold is openly display-only, its wide set and pronounced oblique stress giving it a bold nautical character. The family covers extended Latin including accented characters for a wide range of European languages.

Classification

Coconat features flared terminals rather than full bracketed serifs, sitting between a humanist sans and a serif; the extreme oblique stress in the Bold weight pushes it toward display territory.
